How to get from Hong Kong International Airport to MetroPark Hotel in Kowloon?

September 2, 2010 - 10:56 am 3 Comments

Hi Everyone,

I heard that there are buses to and from the airport. I am looking to book a hotel room in Metropark hotel in Kowloon (75, Waterloo road – Mong Kok to be exact) I was wondering which is the easiest/cheapest way to get to the hotel once I arrive. And also, is this hotel close to MTR station? Is it close to the big malls? Thanks in advance for all answers!

Take the Airport Express train to the Kowloon Station and from there you can get a free shuttle bus right to the Metropark Hotel in Kowloon. You can buy a three day tourist pass at the airport which includes round trip to and from the airport and unlimited rides on the MTR and some other forms of transportation for $300HKD, you’ll also get a $50HKD refund when you return the card at the airport when you leave, it’s a great deal if you plan on using the MTR to get around.

What is the best transport option from an airport to a hotel in Costa Rica?

I am staying at the Langosta Beach Resort in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, for Spring Break. I am arriving at the Liberia airport. What is the best way of travelling from the airport to the hotel?

If you speak Spanish I would say take a taxi, there are cheap and easy to find, but if you do not then take a shuttle bus, something the hotel provides for you from the airport. Have Fun,it is beautiful!!! I lived there for a year, it is the best!

How can we get from the airport to our hotel in Waikiki?

August 22, 2010 - 1:56 pm 6 Comments

We are going to waikiki in 2 weeks, and we have not rented a car. We always rent cars when we go on vacation, but we just want to relax and not have to drive at all for a week.
Is there some kind of shuttle, bus, cab that can take us from the airport to the hotel? Do we need to schedule in advance?

Please let me know if you’ve been there. What is the best way to go?

There is an airport shuttle to Waikiki, and of course plenty of taxies. There is also The bus, which is the cheapest, if you walk out to nimitz HY under the freeway, just get on any bus that says waikiki or waikiki hotels. If you have a lot of lugauge you should take the shuttle. You don’t have to schedule in advance.

Inquiring about Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport Hotel?

August 13, 2010 - 7:29 pm 2 Comments

The hotel at the Orlando International Airport, the Hyatt Regency Hotel, no prices for rooms are listed. Does this mean the hotel is free as long as you are flying to the airport or something? I really need a very close by room to stay before heading out the next morning to Disney World.

No, it’s absolutely not free. Here is the website for that location, you can check rates here:

How do I travel from Berlin airport to our hotel?

August 8, 2010 - 10:30 pm 4 Comments

A friend and I will be arriving at Berlin Tegel airport and we will need to get to our hotel: art’otel berlin mitte, by park plaza. I think the address is: Wallstrasse 70-73, Berlin D-10179, Germany. Could anyone advise what our travel options are? Also any tips to make our visit a good one? We already have an idea of things we want to see. Thanks for your help!

The hotel is located directly opposite the subway station "Märkisches Museum"
There is no U-Bahn at the Berlin-Tegel airport, the other Y!A contributor may have mixed it up with the Berlin International Airport at Tempelhof.
From Tegel you take Bus X9 to Ernst-Reuter Platz (16 minutes) and change to subway U2 in the direction of Pankow (19 minutes). Märkisches Museum is the 12th stop. The stop before is called Spittelmarkt. Cost for a single ticket (Zone AB) is 2,10 €.

Alternately you may use a taxi. The Berlin taxi association provides an internet taxi fare calculator, which amounts the fare for this distance (12 kilometers) at 20,10 €. However, that is based on optimal trafic conditions without jams.

Chicago Midway Airport to Hotel Orrington using public transportation?

July 24, 2010 - 9:13 am 3 Comments

I’m going to Chicago next week and my flight is scheduled to land at around 1AM during the week. I already checked the shuttles and the last shuttle runs at 10:30PM.

Can someone give me a detailed guide on how to get to Hotel Orrington (1710 Orrington Ave, Evanston, IL 60201) from Midway airport using public transportation?

I don’t want to have to spend $60+ on cab fare when I could just take the bus or the train.

Thank you!

Best way….

Take the Orange Line on the CTA, which is just at the airport.

Then, when you get to downtown Chicago, change to the Purple Line at the Adams stop, and go on the northbound side of Adams to get the northbound Purple Line.

This CTA train line goes express after local stops from Adams to Belmont, not stopping from Addison to Morse, resuming normal stops at Howard. Once at Howard, the train continues going north to Evanston for 7 more stops. The 4th stop is Davis, so you get off at the Davis stop….in the heart of downtown Evanston.

From there, go down north to the nearest west-east street headed towards the lake, and then go east on that street for 400 feet…the landmark will be the Evanston Public Library….the big red brick building in the heart of downtown.

Make a left on the street across from that library, and the Orrington Hotel will be on your left (the west side).

Is a bus tour on chicago a fun thing to do for someone in their 40’s? Airport hotel?

July 20, 2010 - 7:37 am 8 Comments

I am a pretty low key person. A bunch of people are going to chicago for a wedding and then into the city the next day. They are going on a bus tour in the daytime. They’re planning to stay at an airport hotel. I’m concerned the bus tour will be rowdy and hectic, and the airport hotel might be in a bad area or too noisy. What do you think?

I think you’ll enjoy the bus tour, actually. I’ve only taken two such "bus tours" in my life (I’m 43 years old), and both of them were pretty docile. While I’d never admit to liking a "bus tour", what appealed to me about it was that I didn’t have to pay attention to driving, so I could gawk at whatever the guide was pointing out.

I frequently stay at the Hilton Chicago O’Hare, which is the closest hotel to the airport, and I’ve never had a problem with the noise. Most airport hotels are intentionally built near the airport, and so they take that into consideration and usually build in things that will reduce the noise levels. (The only airport hotel that didn’t do this well was the Ramada in Memphis. It’s right under the departure from the main runway used by FedEx, so all night long you hear planes roaring above the hotel taking off…but I digress…)

I think if most of the people are flying in from out-of-town, an airport hotel is actually a good idea.

Hope you enjoy your trip!
