Apostoli Palace Venice Boutique Hotel

September 8, 2010 - 10:50 pm 1 Comment

http://www.apostolipalace.com Tucked away in a charming and pictoresque neighborhood of the historic city of Venice, a short, five-minute walk from Saint Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, Apostoli Palace offers the possibility to discover an authentic Venice where the Venetians still live out their daily lives amidst shaded alleys, sunlit squares, and centuries-old art and architecture.
The structure dates to the mid-fifteenth century and was completely restored in 2002 to ensure maximum comfort and a high standard of quality. Each room is dedicated to one of the apostles in honor of the nearby Church of the Holy Apostles. All of them are fully equipped with satellite color television, air-conditioning and heating with independent thermostat, direct-dial telephone, Internet WI-FI, safety deposit box, hairdryer, and a private bathroom in mosaic with tub or shower. The fabrics, the Murano glass chandeliers, the old-style furnishings, and the hand-made Venetian flooring are the creations of some of the more important Venetian artisan workshops and combine to create an inviting and relaxing enviornment immersed in the surrounding magic that is Venice.

In addition, the attentive and qualified staff is available at all times to help you plan and enjoy your memorable sojourn in Venice.
Apostoli Palace is located in a quiet, characteristic neighborhood in the very heart of historic Venice with easy access to both the city’s major sights, Saint Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, and the public transportation system. Many lesser known treasures are also to be discovered and enjoyed while strolling along the shaded streets that immediately surround the hotel including the Church of “Madonna dell’Orto” with its noted paintings by Cima da Conegliano and Tintoretto, the Cà D’Oro Museum on the Grand Canal, the church of the Jesuits with its imposing Baroque facade and works by Titian and Palma il Giovane, the adjoining “Oratorio dei Crociferi”, and the tiny Church of “Santa Maria dei Miracoli” with its jewel-like Renaissance facade completely adorned with polychrome marble. The hotel is also conveniently located for opera and symphonic performances at the Malibran Theater.

Going to Corsica the 22/29 of August. Where do you recommend staying? Romantic boutique hotels a plus!?

August 29, 2010 - 4:45 am 2 Comments

It really depends on where you plan to stay. If you are to visit mostly the cities (Ajaccio, Bastia), staying in hotels may be fine.

But I would strongly recommend to try to find self catering accomodation or a bed and breakfast.

These have several advantages on hotels:
- they are generally of a better value. A very good B&B will be priced as an average hotel room
- being with the locals. Corsica is an island of many small villages where there are no hotels. A B&B in such a village will be far quieter and have more charm than a hotel in Ajaccio.

The one disadvantage, especially as you are planning your trip late, is that self catering appartments and Bed and Breakfast are generally quite crowded in Summer and that they adjust their prices accordingly. You may have to search a long time to find a room.

what are boutique hotels? in kind of information?

August 17, 2010 - 8:36 pm 1 Comment

Boutique hotel is a term originating in North America to describe intimate, usually luxurious or quirky hotel environments. Boutique hotels differentiate themselves from larger chain/branded hotels and motels by providing personalized level accommodation and services/facilities.

Boutique hotels began in the 1980s in major cities like New York, London, San Francisco. Very often it is the Morgans Hotel in Murray Hill of New York, that is awarded with the title of first boutique hotel in the world. It was opened by Ian Schrager in 1984 according to design of Andrée Putnam.

Typically boutique hotels are furnished in a themed, stylish and/or aspirational manner. Although usually considerably smaller than a mainstream hotel (often ranging from 3 to 100 guest rooms), boutique hotels can often have hundreds of rooms in major cities. Guest rooms and suites are fitted with telephony and Wi-Fi Internet, air-conditioning, honesty bars and often cable/pay TV. Guest services are attended to by 24 hour hotel staff. Many boutique hotels have on-site dining facilities, and the majority offer bars and lounges which may also be open to the general public.
